Trust is meant to be the foundation of every team.

At least… that’s what we’re told.

But in small and medium businesses, that version of trust rarely shows up the way the books describe it — and chasing it can actually make things messier.

In this episode, we take a closer look at what “trust” really means at work, and why so many popular models don’t quite fit the reality of everyday teams.

Because most businesses aren’t operating in high-stakes, life-or-death environments. They’re trying to get through the week, deliver good work, and keep things moving.

So what if deep, vulnerability-based trust isn’t the goal?

Instead, we explore a more practical way teams actually operate — what I call Trustless Collaboration.

It’s not about removing trust altogether. It’s about relying less on how people feel, and more on how they show up.

Reliability. Reciprocity. Respect. Resilience.

If you’ve ever worked in a team that “talks” about trust but still struggles to function… this one might explain why.
